I am in Winnfield, Louisiana for our annual family reunion, and let me tell you, this place is the entertainment capital of Winn Parish! They have a Walmart, a McDonald's, a bar made out of cinder blocks near the creosote plant and numerous statues of the Long family. Plus dogs fighting pigs! I tell ya, I don't ever want to go home.

How do you spell excitement? Winnfield, Louisiana!

That's Winnfield, Louisiana crossed off my list of potential vacation hotspots...
Boar baiting? For God sakes, don't tell Michael Vick.
I'm from Monroe, La in Ouachita Parish, Dog Fighting Pigs has been a staple there every since the late 90's especially in Richwood subdivision
I tell ya, I don't ever want to go home.
You are home Lou. you are home.
My work sometimes requires me to travel to very remote places like this. You can have a lot more fun here than you'd think. Go to the local bar and make some new friends.
Tesla, it's 8:00 on a Saturday night and I am thinking about it!
I gotta agree with Tom on this one. I'm going to see if I can find Winnfield on a map and put a little X there.
That is amazing that sports like this still go on.
I say go for it. If nothing else you should get some good stories to tell.
Here's a small sampling of interesting people I've met from small town bars:
- in CA I met the guy who owned the record company that produced that "Breakfast at Tiffany's" song from about 10 years back. He was proud of that song but seemed really stressed out to generate another hit.
- in an exurb of San Diego I met a stunningly beautiful Chechen immigrant who had searing hatred for Vladimir Putin. Did I mention she was gorgeous?
- in Marfa, TX I met 2 Mexican women at the drive through liquor store "El Cheapo Liquor" who were convinced that I was a famous Hollywood actor. I told them they just had their beer goggles on but I don't think they got they joke.
Everyone you meet has an interesting story to tell.
It's true. I once went to a "wheat grass" bar - I thought it would be like a hula place. I met a skinny kid with a man-purse. He told me I was a sucker for not lying on my mortgage application, and for only borrowing what I could afford to pay back. Apparently, he was right.
dammit, I heard there were other Bobs out there, but thought that was just a myth.
Heh. Born and raised in Winnfield, here.
BTW, Uncle Earl's has been called off this year and might not be back. Could it be our little burg is creeping toward the 21st century?
:D
It won't truly have success, I believe so.
